According to the Associated Press,  the tracking and killing of Osama bin-Laden was voted the top story of the year.

In a survey of Associated Press Editors and Contributors,  the killing of bin-Laden was the top news story of the year. Other top stories included the Japanese nuclear disaster,  the US economy, and the Penn St. abuse scandal.  For the rest of the list, click here.
