The large, wooden private craft went down in 15 feet of water.

The 60-foot vessel went down over the weekend, and is nose-first into the water.   Officials are not sure why it sank, but as a precaution oil containment buoys have been placed around it in case any oil or fuel leaks.

The boat was moored at the Port of Kennewick dock next to the island. Officials did not say who owned the vessel or how long it would take to get it out of the water.
