Grant Scantling will spend the rest of his life behind bars with no option for parole.

The Kennewick man was found guilty of 1st Degree Aggravated Murder in the death of 24-year-old Franklin Palmer, the roommate of Scantling’s former fiancé.

Scantling, according to the prosecution, shot the man in a jealous rage after Palmer refused to let Scantling see his two children. The mother, Ann Krebs, was not home at the time.

The defense portrayed Scantling as a good father who didn’t start to have problems until he began to use drugs. Scantling was sentenced to life without parole.

Defense attorney Scott Johnson has already appealed the conviction and the sentence.
