Man Busted for Setting House on Fire in Kennewick

Shortly before 3am Friday, Kennewick police and fire units responded to an arson that could have been tragic.

Police say at 2:47am, they responded to the house fire in the 300 block of West 19th. A suspect, Sergio Tijerina (age not listed) was arrested for allegedly setting the house on fire.

Everyone inside was safely evacuated, no word on how much damage was sustained in the home. He's now in the Benton County jail facing 1st Degree Arson charges.

According to KNDU-TV, our news partner, Tijerina intentionally set the fire inside the kitchen.

Police didn't say why he set the blaze. More information expected to be released soon.
