The Christmas Eve fatal shooting in Kennewick shocked the community, and now the shooter will be behind bars for 32 years.

A Benton County jury handed down the sentence to 20-year-old Francisco Quintero, who fatally shot 21-year-old Luisa Garcia. He had been arguing with her in his car Christmas Eve in 2015, and he pulled a gun on her.

She resisted, and he shot her twice. He then dumped her body in the road in the North 600 block of Tweedt Street in Kennewick, then drove back to his home in Mabton. The two had apparently been arguing over her breaking up with him.

The two had the little 22-month old girl together, and now that the sentence has been handed down, both sides must meet with the court to determine who will get custody of the little girl.

The judge handed down a longer sentence for the conviction of Second-Degree Murder, due to the circumstances of the crime.
