Authorities continue to search for the body of a 22-year-old man who most likely drowned at Palouse Falls. Columbia Basin Dive Rescue continues to search under and around the waterfall for the as yet unidentified man. (UPDATE SEE BELOW)

His name has not yet been released. Authorities say there used to be fenced around the trails by the falls area, but they are now gone. Officials say swimming in the pool or around the falls is not advised as it can be treacherous. The man went under water Sunday evening, and has not been seen since.

Palouse Falls State Park officials say while people are allowed to go down there, they're urged not to swim, especially under or around the falls.

The park and falls are about five miles south of Washtucna, off Highway 26 in Franklin County. The warmer weather, say authorities, has led to a lot more people visiting the area, and swimming in the Palouse River, which flows down and joins up with the Snake miles away. The falls itself is a 200 foot drop.

(UPDATED INFORMATION)  Authorities now say due to unsafe waters below the falls, the search for the body of the 22-year-old man has been suspended. The Franklin County Sheriff's office issued a release Tuesday afternoon saying the man has been identified as James A. Hopkins.
