The march will finish at the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park.

A grass-roots group of people have come together on Facebook to sponsor a march that will be taking place this Sunday, finishing up at the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park. The rally, open to everyone, will take place at noon.

The group is on Facebook, just search Veteran March on Memorials for more information.   Like many similar marches taking place across the nation, it is to show support for our veterans, and to peacefully protest the closing of numerous War Memorials in Washington D.C. and other parts of the country because of the so-called "shutdown."

The march to the Memorial will begin at the Columbia Park Band Shell stage at noon, in the East end of the park. The two mile march will culminate with a gathering at the Veterans Memorial near the roundabout by the river. Veterans, active duty personnel and anyone who wants to show support for our vets is invited to attend.

The public is invited to bring flags, wear patriotic colors, and organizers emphasize this is a peaceful march.
