Perhaps it was the snowstorm that helped make the car easier to spot.

The snowstorm that whacked our region Thursday night into Friday morning drove a lot of people off the streets, but not 27-year-old David Miraz-Gutirrez and a passenger.

In the early morning hours of Friday, police on Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) Patrol in Kennewick spotted this lone red car sitting unoccupied in the Rite Aid Parking lot on Ely (alongside Highway 395 near Golds and Starbucks Coffee).  Rather unusual for a lone car to be there, so police ran the plates.

Officers determined this same car had been reported stolen in Pasco in November. Because it was unoccupied, police set up surveillance, and soon afterwards, Gutirrez and a passenger got into the car. They were promptly arrested, Gutirrez for possession of a stolen vehicle. The passenger, Bryan M. Suazo Castillo was facing even more charges. He was taken in on outstanding arrest warrants, meth possession and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Both are now in the Benton County Jail.
