Mesa Man Convicted of Sexual Assault on 11 Year Old During Burglary

37-year-old Terry Michael Hoefler has been found guilty of attempted rape of an 11-year-old girl as he was burglarizing a home in north Franklin County last July.

Hoefler broke into a home on the Oakdell Egg Farm on Glade North Road on July 22. Around 2:19 a.m. assaulted the girl before leaving the residence. He was later captured by authorities in a nearby irrigation ditch after witnesses called 911 to report a man hiding.

When captured he was found wearing a young girl's skirt. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for late May. Due to prior felony convictions he could be facing life in prison.

He entered a guilty plea to the burglary charge.
