Benton County Sherriffs have confirmed the body of a man found today in the Yakima River is that of a missing Benton City man

The man, who's identity has not yet been released, was an elderly individual who apparently lived on Overlook Drive.  Authorities, responding to a 911 call and began looking for the man around 6am.  The caller, who lives on Demoss Road, said the man showed at their home, and did not appear to know where he lived.   The caller said he wandered off while they were making the 911 report, and authorities searched using a K-9 and airplane.  Citizens also assisted in searching the area on four-wheelers.  A body was found in the river shortly before noon by the Benton County Sherriff's boat patrol.  The man's identity was not released pending notification of relatives.  An autopsy is pending to find the cause of death.
