The Washington State Patrol now says a two vehicle crash on Highway 397 (Chemical Drive) near the Yew Street intersection was alcohol related.

Sunday afternoon, an SUV driven by 54-year-old Fernando Hernandez was headed south on Chemical Drive, when he crossed the center line and slammed into a passenger car head on. While no one was killed, four people were said to have serious injuries and were rushed to area emergency rooms.

WSP troopers did not say if she was one of the injured persons, but Hernandez' five-year-old granddaughter was sitting in the front seat. Troopers did not say if she was properly restrained.

WSP says charges are pending related to the crash, but did not specifically say if Hernandez is the person being charged. The investigation continues.
