While maybe you don't watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central,  Obama's comments about the four Americans killed in Benghazi have created a firestorm.

While making yet another appearance on a TV specialty show,  Obama answered a question from The Daily Show host Jon Stewart about the four Americans who died in the terrorist raid on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.  The attack took place on Sept. 11 -- the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Obama replied to a question about how his administration responded to the intelligence about the incident by saying, "If four Americans get killed, it's not optimal." He went on to say:

We’re going to fix it. All of it. And what happens, during the course of a presidency, is that the government is a big operation and any given time something screws up. And you make sure that you find out what’s broken and you fix it.

However, his comments, intentional or not, have created a firestorm. 72-year-old Sandi Smith, mother of one of the four Americans who died (Sean Smith), told the British paper MailOnline in an exclusive interview, "My son is not very optimal -- he's dead." She went on to tell the interviewer she doesn't believe the president has the right idea of the English language. She said Obama was disrespectful and insensitive.

Smith, a U.S. diplomat, died in the attack, along with Ambassador Chris Stevens, and two former SEALS and current security detail members Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. The Obama administration repeatedly blamed the attack on a mob incensed by an anti-Muslim video that was posted on YouTube. However, credible reports surfaced not long afterwards showing the CIA and other sources knew almost immediately it was a planned, coordinated assault on the U.S. embassy, and numerous briefings had been given to Obama himself on the matter.

While the ratings for The Daily Show may not be anywhere near those of Fox, or even CNN (the show does average a respectable 1.1 to 1.3 million viewers)  its audience and host lean well to the Left (hence the reason Obama was on the show in the first place). However, much like his ill-fated, "You didn't build that" gaffe, this insensitivity towards four dead Americans has given him, his campaign and his administration yet another big black eye.
