Here's your chance to have your voice heard on hydro-power and dams in the Pacific Northwest.

On Aug. 15, Rep. Doc Hastings (R) will be holding a committee hearing to gather public testimony and present information about a new piece of legislation designed to strengthen and protect dams in the Pacific Northwest and Washington State. The bill, HR 6247 is the Saving Our Dams and New Hydropower and Jobs Development Act. Hastings, who is sponsoring the bill and is the chairman of the committee, is seeking input about the bill.

It is designed to cut red tape and other obstacles to developing new hydro-power projects, streamlining existing processes, as well as generating new non-federal funding to projects.

The hearing will be held Wednesday, 9 a.m. in room 2 at TRAC in Pasco. The hearing will be open to the public and a live stream will be broadcast on the web.
