Around 30,000 people in Washington State have been without power for a week and it looks lie it will last through Thanksgiving. Reports say most of the people are in the Spokane area where they had 70 mph winds that knocked down hundreds of trees and power lines. The power company has 123 crews working 24 hours a day but even then it could take a long time because they have hundreds of miles of wire and poles to fix. They say it can take up to 6 hours to fix each downed power pole making this job mind boggling.

Crews have made huge progress from the initial storm last Tuesday where over 180,000 people were without power. Schools have been closed since Wednesday and time is starting to run out for some people. Firewood is becoming scarce and people are starting to leave town early for Thanksgiving or moving to hotels with power because of the cold.
