While some are rather droll about the upcoming solar eclipse Monday, it's worth noting in our region we are going to be dark, and it's the first such eclipse that will actually be seen from coast to coast in 100 years.

With that in mind, there's a new source of information for those who want to know more. Oregon's Office of Emergency Management has created a new number to call, and there's web and Twitter information too.  It will feature news and history of the eclipse, how they happen, why, and yes, safety tips.  Don't look at it directly, it will hurt your eyes.  Here's the information:

  •  To get the info on your phone, call 211
  • Online, 211info.org
  • On Twitter, follow using this hashtag:  #OReclipse

Much of this information is aimed at the (literally) hundreds of thousands of visitors from out of state who are already flocking to Oregon to see the event Monday.
