New Anti Gang Bill Goes Before Public Wednesday

It’s being called perhaps the toughest bill introduced yet to combat gang violence in Washington State…
Attorney General Rob McKenna’s new Proposal will be considered before an important legislative committee Wednesday, January 19th. The bill will, according to Rep. Christopher Hurst D-Enumclaw, enable local prosecutors and communities to deal with criminal streets gangs in new and powerful ways. This tool, according to Hurst, has helped other communities reduce gang violence substanially. The hearing ironically comes just after the Yakima County Sherriffs office began investigating four separate drive-by shootings that occurred last week in Granger, Sunnyside, Outlook and Grandview. All are believed to be gang related.
