The Associated Press has released a story saying a New Jersey law enforcement official sent a copy of the Ray Rice elevator video to the NFL, and it was done three months ago; despite claims from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to the contrary.

The officer has not been identified, and asked not to be, because of the (at the time) ongoing investigation.    The official said he had no further conservation or contact from the NFL, despite leaving his information.

According to ABC News and the AP:

"The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had steadfastly said previously the NFL had not seen the full video, which included footage of Rice striking his fiance' Janay Palmer, until the gossip website TMZ published it a few days ago.

Previously, the suspension and discipline for Rice earlier this spring for alleged domestic assault was based upon a video showing him dragging his unconscious fiance' from the casino elevator.  The full version is slightly longer, and shows them entering the elevator, brief altercation, then the blows.

Rice was released from the Ravens Monday when they terminated his contract, and suspended from the NFL indefinitely.   According to ABC News and the AP:

"Goodell told CBS on Tuesday that "no one in the NFL, to my knowledge" had seen a new video of what happened on the elevator until it was posted online.

"We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity," Goodell said."

Pressure has now exploded on the NFL for their handling of the situation, their stance on domestic violence, and for Goodell to resign.    No doubt more information will be coming out soon.
