gun-control
Since Wednesday, the Tri-Cities Herald‘s editorial page — particularly the letters to the editor — has been dominated by responses to a letter sent by a Pasco resident titled, “U.N. Invasion Coming.”
The letter defends the second amendment and attacks any U.N. treaty restrictions against it. What is remarkable, however, are how astonishing the arguments are.
The letter states that ”If we ever did give up our gun rights, the U.N. and its military forces would invade America” and patriots caught would be sent to ”re-education camps, where it has been a planned conspiracy for more than 30 years to kill 25 million patriots.” It goes on to state that “Alaska should buy every citizen a rifle” in preparation for the invasion.
This letter has been getting a major reaction and now is your chance to share yours. This kind of thinking is becoming more common. It’s no longer surprising to hear your neighbor, aunt, or high school friend talk like this. Is it rooted in truth or insanity? Should we fear for America’s future because there are unseen threats, or because so many intelligent people believe these scenarios are possible? Read the full letter and tell us what you think:
