The NFL just signed a deal to broadcast 10 live Thursday Night Games on Twitter. The move is mainly to try and attract younger viewers that do not have cable and mostly use social media according to news reports. They describe them as "cord cutters" or people who mostly watch products like Apple TV or VUDU.  When you are using your smartphone to watch Thursday Night games on Twitter, you will be able to hit a button and instantly interact with sportscaster and celebrities watching the same game.

Broadcasting on Twitter is not just for targeting the younger audience because a large portion of older consumer watch on a screen other then a TV. Brian Rolapp, the NFL’s executive vice president of media says that "7 of 10 fans who watch NFL games on television use another screen—laptop or tablet or smartphone—at some point while watching".
