Arson Suspect Arrested for Early Morning Kennewick Apartment Fire

Kennewick firefighters responded to an early-morning blaze on Edison Street just after 2 a.m. Fortunately, the apartment was unoccupied.Kennewick police and fire crews arrived at 530 North Edison (The Edison Village Apartments) and found unit F107 was partially engulfed in flames.

Crews were able to quickly subdue the fire, and kept it from spreading to adjacent units. No injuries or other property damage was reported. Reports indicate the unit was unoccupied and investigators continue to try to find the source of the fire.

Kennewick police have determined there were two men in the apartment prior to the blaze, and are now treating it as an arson investigation.

31-year-old Jason D. Hill is in the Benton County Jail on charges of reckless burning.
