The oldest inmate on Oregon's Death Row died Monday, according to Two Rivers Correctional Facility officials.

67-year-old Mark Allen Pinnell, who was convicted for multiple murders in Clackamas County and put in prison in 1986, was at the Two Rivers Facility for medical reasons. Officials didn't say what they were, but reported he died of natural causes.

His was one of Oregon's most notorious crimes, he was accused of killing a 65-year-old victim, then his accomplice, then robbing the first victim's home.

Oregon's death penalty was restored in 1978 after a legal challenge, but the state has not executed anyone on Death Row since 1997. Former Governor John Kitzhaber took a Jay Inslee-like stance on the matter, saying he would not permit any executions while was in office, but since his departure, it's unclear if Oregon's new leadership will continue that policy.
