Boy, they're really reaching now, aren't they?

Kennewick Police are cautioning residents about a new scam making the rounds. Citizens are reporting in south Kennewick this week, near 45th and Underwood, that several individuals were making their way to homes, claiming to be from the Benton Clean Air Agency.

These individuals claimed they were attempting to collect 'data' and information for the purposes of monitoring neighborhoods in relation to air quality.

They were even offering to enter people into a drawing for a $500 gift card to the store of their choice.  Police say nobody from the Clean Air Agency in ANY area county will ever come to your door seeking personal information.

And despite wearing badges and attempts to look official, police say you should ALWAYS demand to see their permit from the city, which would allow them to solicit or sell.  ALL businesses that go door to door must be first registered with the City, and wear and official city badge. If they fail to produce such credentials, or you're in doubt, call (509)-628-0333.  Especially if you suspect a scammer.  Try to get as much information from them as you can.

Some residents have even reported taking pictures of the people and their vehicles as they were leaving.
