While many doubt the government will actually shut down, or the US economy will collapse August 2nd unless the debt ceiling is raised, it is still ironic that on "Default Day" August 2nd (the date set by Obama that we will melt down if we don't utilize his plan), he will be in Chicago celebrating his big 5-0...

As if that's not enough,  forget about attending unless you can write a check for $35,800.  That's how much the tickets are.  The funding is going to help his 2012 election campaign.  Republican Rep Joe Walsh (R) who is also from Chicago said it's ironic Obama is doing this, as it was the prez himself who said by August 2nd there might not be Social Security checks going out.  According to Obama, there's not enough money in the coffers to take care of that.  The event will be what is called multi-tiered.  General Admission is just $200, a comemorative photo with the Prez will only set you back $10k, while the VIP dinner with Obama which includes the Tim Hudson concert and all activities is the big $35,800 ticket.   Just like the debate over the Stimulus  plan,  Obama is using "chicken little" tactics to pressure legislators into raising the debt ceiling as well as taxes to deal with the budget problem. However,  new information is coming out that the government will NOT actually shut down August 2,  disputing Obama telling America that, among other things, Social Security will not be able to meet it's obligations come August 2nd.  Wonder what kind of ice cream they will be serving at his bash?
