Old Lady in Mercedes SUV Runs Over Former Tri-Citian

Kathy Baker worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for over a decade before moving to California to be CFO at the national laboratory there. She died this week in a tragic accident.

While working out inside a health club, she was hit by an 80-year-old woman who accidentally hit her gas pedal in a Mercedes SUV and crashed it through the club doors.

Five other people were slightly injured.

Baker was taken to a nearby hospital where she died. The driver was not incapacitated in any way and it appeared to be a complete accident so the elderly driver was not arrested or cited, but the police report will be sent to prosecutors to determine if charges are warranted.
