A West Linn, OR mother is facing a variety of charges after she allegedly crashed her SUV, abandoned it with a baby inside, then falsely reported it was stolen.

31-year-old Terra Brandenburg is facing felony abandonment charges from the Wednesday night incident. She went to a convenience store in West Linn to buy some boxed wine, say police.  She was intoxicated at the time, and authorities say she later crashed into the Arch Bridge in West Linn.

She then drove to an apartment parking lot near the bridge, left the vehicle there with her week-old baby and a dog inside, and called police to tell them her vehicle was stolen!

However, as officers arrived faster than she expected, she didn't have time to leave the scene and get home. She was, in fact, located by a police unit nearby!  She is scheduled for a court appearance Thursday.
