Oregon Suicide Linked To America’s Most Wanted
Oregon authorities continue to investigate the apparent self-inflicted shooting death of a man who appeared on America's Most Wanted.
Oregon State Patrolmen responded to a report of a possible fugitive wanted from Indiana. The man, identified as Philip Lloyd Ferguson, age 62, was also known as Roy Vernon Cox. May 31st, authorities had attempted to contact him concerning a possible fraud warrant out of Indiana. Ferguson fled from Harney County Sherriffs after they had received a tip he might be in the area. Ferguson was seen driving in a truck near Highway 78, but before officers could apprehend him, his truck stopped some distance down the road. Officers found Ferguson dead from a single gunshot wound to the head, and a rifle was on the seat next to him.
FBI officers had occompanied the sherriffs officers, as Ferguson was wanted for a fraud charge in Indiana, and in 2004 had been featured on the national television show America's Most Wanted.
