It's hard to think of a police department being strapped for cash, but it takes money to keep cops on the road with the right equipment. The Othello Police Department needs to upgrade their communications systems but can't afford a proposal by Adams County even jointly. A proposal by Motorola would allow Adams County and the city of Othello to replace their dispatch equipment, but it costs $90,000 and they simply don't have the funds. What are they to do? They are waiting on less expensive proposals to present to city council. Hopefully that will happen soon.
