A citizen out walking on Valentine's Day came across auto registration papers and other personal property lying in the street, leading to report of a stolen car.

Kennewick police are searching for a vehicle virtually identical to this one pictured, after it was reported stolen during the overnight hours leading into Valentine's Day.

Police were called to the 2800 block of Dennis Street, after the pedestrian called. They'd found personal property and vehicle papers lying in the road. Authorities said they were able to identify the owner, and the 71-year old woman learned her 2008 Ford Fusion had been taken.

Apparently the thief had emptied the glove box and other compartments in an effort to remove any evidence linking them to a stolen vehicle.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers at (509)-586-TIPS. All leads are anonymous and confidential.
