Monday, the Pasco City Council expanded a previous ordinance that will officially ban camping in any park maintained or owned by the city.

According to KAPP-KVEW TV yaktrinews.com, the council was concerned over what was deemed criminal activity and safety concerns.

But some say it's also a response to an increase in homeless people using the parks for camping or living purposes.

Officials say the new expanded ordinance will impact the use of public lands for the storage of personal property, in essence, camping.

First offense will be warning, second offense will bring charges.
