Area residents tell police they're terrified of the crime invading their neighborhoods, and it's costing the city a lot of money. So, they're doing some crackdowns on offenders.

Sources, including KEPR-TV, say the police are focusing more emphasis patrols around the Silver Creek Apartment Complex, and the Thunderbird Motel. In 2015 alone, there were 378 calls for police, and in the Thunderbird, some 251. Also, the Loyalty Inn racked up some 331.

The calls range from harassment to prostitution, and officials say new ordinances will help them crack down on offenders. Drugs are also a problem, and some of these spill over to neighboring homes. Citizens report some of the offenders also panhandle around the surrounding homes, bothering people.

No immediate comments were available from the owners or proprietors of the apartments or hotels at the focus of the crackdown.
