The 15-year-old student was suffering from leg and hit pain from the 12:15pm accident.

According to Pasco police, the student was using the crosswalk on West Sylvester at North 14th. Avenue, when she was struck by a vehicle making a left-hand turn from the southbound lanes of North 14th.

Pasco police said area residents and passers-by helped provide emergency help to the girl while they waiting for EMS crews. Police said she was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for treatment, but no official word on her condition was released.

The accident is still under investigation. Officials said the accident was a harsh reminder to drivers to pay very close attention when traveling through school zones, and reminded students to make sure they're aware of vehicles when crossing streets - even in crosswalks.
