Gov. Jay Inslee has already declined to appoint a special prosecutor in the Pasco shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes, but an attorney representing his widow and two daughters has requested again.

Yakima attorney George Trejo Jr. again has asked Inslee to appoint a special official to oversee the investigation into the fatal shooting, that occurred February 10th after Zambrano-Montes was seen throwing rocks at cars in Downtown Pasco.

According to the investigation he threw rocks at police as well, and efforts to subdue him with a Taser failed.

Trejo, who has been outspoken in his criticism of Pasco police, claims in his letter to Inslee the conduct of the officers amounts to nothing short of a killing by "bloodthirsty officers."

He says at the very least, an independent prosecutor should be called to oversee investigation.  Trejo Jr. had earlier called for the officers involved to be put on trial for murder.

He also claimed he needed to be an active part of the upcoming coroner's inquest that will be conducted once the Special Investigations Unit is done examining the case.  Such requests are rarely if ever made, and was turned down by the Franklin County Coroner.

Inslee had earlier declined, saying the right and obligation for such local cases to be reviewed and worked is up to the local prosecuting attorney - not outside authorities.
