In order to improve downtown sidewalks through much of Pasco, including along Lewis Street, the City of Pasco says there will likely have to be removal of some long-standing trees that have lined the streets for years. They want your input.

The city has identified at least ten areas along Lewis Street where dying or diseased trees need to be removed, and due to their condition, pruning or other non-removal options won't work. The trees in question are pictured here in story.

The ten trees are between the 403 and 524 block addresses of Lewis. The replacement plan involves a variety of trees, randomly placed, that will greatly enhance the area. City officials say the diseased trees not only are an eyesore, but some pose a hazard due to falling branches.

The removal will begin May 9th, starting at 8pm, so traffic and other downtown business will less disrupted.
