Not only have some contacted attorneys, but some former patients have reached out to the Medical Quality Assurance Commission.

The Commission, part of the WA State Health Department, are the ones who oversee doctor, nurse and other medical practitioner conduct, and enforce rules, and 'prosecute' violations.

Dr. Alex Ortolano, who formerly ran the now-closed Arbor Healthcare for Women clinic, is no longer in the Tri-Cities area, and former patients say they're having trouble getting their records.

Women from Othello, Tri-Cities and other local areas are trying to get their records so they can be transferred to other OBGYN doctors. Without them patients have to go through a completely new registration and sometimes costly examination and set up process.  At least 5 woman have contacted the Commission, others have reached out to an attorney who's overseeing several of the malpractice lawsuits facing Ortolano.

Ortolano's attorney says there's been some confusion and misinformation, but women who have not obtained their records can call 509-579-8852, or make a written request for them by sending it to P.O. Box 925 Richland, WA.

Ortolano, who was previously suspended for allegations of medical malpractice, has now had his suspension lifted but is subject to a lengthy list of requirements linked to his ability to practice and perform OBGYN duties. Prior to the allegations, Arbor was considered one of the premiere women's healthcare and reproductive clinics in the region.

The first of his Benton County malpractice suits are set to go to trial next May in Benton County Superior Court.
