You would think a driver, even intoxicated, might have a clue when police TELL you you're going to get tasered and a stun gun is used on you. Apparently didn't matter to this guy.

Pendleton police report they had a busy Saturday night with an intoxicated motorist who refused to get out of his car and submit to a sobriety test.

47-year-old Kevin J. Gray of Hermiston was seen driving around 1:30am on South Main Street near Emigrant Ave., without headlights, and he committed other traffic infractions. What happened next was bizarre.

Gray finally pulled over, according to Police Chief Stuart Roberts. But he only would roll down the window far enough to hand his license and registration to the officer then he rolled it up again.  Even so, the officer could smell alcohol, and asked Gary to exit the vehicle.

He refused, and the officer tried to open the door.  Gray still refused to exit the vehicle, and even with the help of another officer, Gray braced himself against the steering wheel, his feet against the floor, and refused to budge.

Then the officers told him if he refused to comply he would be tasered. Apparently that was ok with Gray, and he was shot. However, one of the prongs failed and officers had to use a stun gun to pry him from his vehicle.

Once on the ground he immediately tried to stand up and resist before he was finally subdued. Besides the DUI, Gray is facing a long list of resistance charges for refusing to follow officers commands. He will obviously be spending some time in the Umatilla County Jail.
