Pot just became legal in October, and already people are going to great lengths, and blows, to get their hands on it, even if that involves not paying.

Tuesday morning, police in Portland responded to an alarm at the Progressive Collective Dispensary (a medical marijuana store) and found the suspect trying to break in using a hammer.

Even if the alarm had not sounded, some nearby business owners and walkers heard the racket, and several also called 911 after the break-in began.

The man, Shaquille Brown, ran away away, but was quickly tracked down by a K-9 unit, 'subdued' and taken into custody. He was not successful in getting into the store before the police arrived.

Guess subtlety was not one of his stronger suits.
