The Kennewick School District issues this statement Friday just before noon:

'Social media posts are circulating around the country regarding a possible threat to a school with the initials "SHS." This is a generic threat reported to law enforcement in our state and around the nation over the past 48 hours.

There is no credible evidence indicating Southridge High School is a target of these posts.

Thank you to everyone who saw the post and brought it to our attention. We continue to work closely with the Kennewick Police Department on all reports. We take all threats to our schools seriously and encourage you to report threats or safety concerns to your school and police, even if there's a possibility it could be a joke or a hoax.

Safety is our top priority and we will continue to strive to maintain a safe learning environment for our students."
