Prosser Fire Evacuations Lifted, Officials Investigate Blaze

The big fire that started near South Ward Gap Road by Prosser burned over 1,000 acres, and threatened homes, crops, and power lines.

Sunday evening, level 3 evacuations had been ordered for a number of homes in the Richardson Road area, and Hausel Middle School was set up as an emergency center for people displaced from those homes.

But fortunately, crews were able to drive back and slow the flames, and evacuation orders have now been lifted. Areas of State Route 22 were closed due to smoke and flames.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation. No reports available of any damages, but no homes or structures were reported lost.
