Newhouse Says He Supported Ryan in House Speaker Election

Rep. Dan Newhouse issued a statement Wednesday following the election of Paul Ryan as the new Speaker of the House, replacing John Boehner.

The following was sent out by his press team:

“I was proud to support the Republican conference nominee, Paul Ryan, for Speaker. Paul’s election presents a fresh opportunity to move our conservative agenda forward on behalf of the American people. I look forward to starting with a clean slate with an effective new Speaker.”

Some of Ryan's initial remarks included urging for Democrats and Republicans to "pray for each other," and a return "to regular order."
