The Richland Police Department reported on the 2012 year to the City Council yesterday. In 2012:

  • There were no murders or non-negligent manslaughter cases.
  • There were 13 robberies.
  • 265 collisions were investigated.
  • 2,175 traffic stops occurred resulting in 1,598 issued infractions and 577 verbal warnings.
  • The bomb squad responded to 31 regional calls which involved suspicious packages, old dynamite, grenades, and pipe bombs.
  • 3,474 items were logged into the evidence and property room.
  • Reserve officers volunteered 2,308 hours.
  • Members of Volunteers in Police Service logged 6,518 hours.

Overall crime in Richland for the 2012 year was lower than 2011.
