Roundabouts can be tricky enough for a seasoned driver, for one with a learner's permit, even worse.

Sunday afternoon a young driver was trying to negotiate the roundabout in Columbia Park near the Veterans Memorial when they lost control and slammed into the light pole.

Fortunately, no one was injured but police say the vehicle appears to be totaled. Airbags were deployed as you can see in the picture. Police say the family did practice in parking lots with the young driver, but accidents do happen.

Thank goodness for insurance.  Don't mock them, you know you hit your share of stuff when you were young!
