Climatologists noticed some areas of the country were having a "worse-than-usual" winter and created a rating system to measure it. According to their research, Walla Walla and Pendleton, OR had one of the worst winters in the nation.

They didn't have the most snow, or the coldest temperatures, or the harshest wind... but compared to what average winters are like, 2016-2017 was extremely severe. It's like when you're used to living off $2k a month, and all of a sudden you get a pay cut and make $1k. You're going to be absolutely miserable, but you're not the poorest person in town. That's why the weather experts labeled it the "misery index." You can read the details here.

And we're not the only ones! Cities all over the Northwest have been breaking records for crazy snow stats. For example, Seattle had more snow in the first three weeks of February than Buffalo, NY! Green Bay, WI! Even Fargo, ND! Mind you, they didn't have more snow all winter, just the first 3 weeks of Feb. But still! Fore more details check it out here.
