Tuesday night, I-84 was closed in Oregon in various areas due to blowing dust and severe windy conditions. It also triggered accidents, one of which killed a motorist.

East of Stanfield, Hermiston first responders got numerous calls about an accident involving three semi-trucks and a number of cars. 38 emergency crew workers responded from various agencies. Reports indicate one of the motorists died, but their identity has not been released yet. Rescue crews had to help remove some drivers and passengers who were stuck in their vehicles after the accident.

Stretches of the road after 7pm were closed for hours while cleanup took place, and weather conditions eventually settle down after midnight.
