Yet another tragic example why speed really does kill when it comes to driving.

The Washington State Patrol reports two people died yesterday after their car collided with a tree on State Route 8 near Olympia.

The man and woman -- whose identities were not released -- both died when the vehicle hit a tree head-on and split in half! The 19-year-old male driver, who WSP says was from Montesano, was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. The female 19-year-old passenger from McCleary was also dead at the scene.

The State Patrol says speed was a factor in the incident. Here is a picture of the tree the car struck.
