Virginia Maiden found her 1995 Toyota 4 Runner missing from her apartment complex parking lot when she woke up Tuesday morning. Maiden reported the car stolen, admitting to police that it was unlocked when she left it. The Kennewick woman then went to her job at McDonald's at Canal and Kellogg. Just a short time later, while working the drive-thru, Maiden noticed her vehicle waiting to place an order! A Big Mac attack turned out to be the downfall for this thief.
He hasn't pitched in a Major League Baseball game since 2010, but the Seattle Mariners were willing to give Jeremy Bonderman a shot to make the rotation. Yesterday, he took the mound against the Los Angeles Angels in the team's fourth spring training game. The 30-year-old right-hander gave up three runs on two hits, including a three-run home run to catcher and Federal Way native Hank Conger. He threw 17 pitches in his lone inning.
The King will be back in the building for the rest of the decade! Hopefully. According to the Seattle Mariners, the deal is not complete, but USA TODAY Sports is reporting that the Seattle Mariners and Felix Hernandez have agreed to a seven-year, $175 million contract, making him the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history.
It took a Benton County Superior Court jury about 45 minutes on Thursday to deliberate and return a guilty verdict against Matthew Hibbard, the general manager and head of security at Jack Didley's in Kennewick. He has been convicted of third-degree assault with aggravating circumstance. Close to midnight on July 4, 2012, a drunk and belligerent patron, Ben Ensign, was dropped on his head outside the night club. Sentencing will come at a later date.
On Tuesday, witnesses took to the stand during one of the most talked about criminal cases in the Tri-Cities this past year. Jack Didley's night club general manager and head of security, Mathew Hibbard, is being charged with third-degree assault with aggravating circumstances after, as one witness said, he "forcefully dropped" Ben Ensign onto his head outside of the night club.
It's not often that the goalies get to throw down, especially in a WHL game, but that's what happened this weekend at Rexall Place in Edmonton as the Oil Kings hosted the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Former Tri-City Americans Goaltender Ty Rimmer, who was traded to Lethbridge during this last off-season, dropped the gloves and had a go with Oil Kings goalie Laurent Brossoit.
California State Senator Diane Feinstein will be introducing the latest gun control bill to Congress on Thursday. The proposal would include magazine size limitations and would make more than 100 specialty firearms, certain semi-automatic rifles and assault rifles illegal. These new restrictions would not apply to the firearms that you currently own.
Even though a number of guns will be banned with this newly proposed legislation, that doesn't mean all will be illegal to sell, produce or own in the future.
Time and time again the rumors about Facebook charging its users for service come up on my news feed. These have been outed as false each time, but that doesn't mean Facebook isn't looking at other revenue streams to cash in on it' social media platform.
Last year, Facebook began 'Facebook Gifts' where you can buy real world gifts for your online friends and also began allowing businesses and users to pay to promote a post for it to be more visibile to others. Now, they are testing out a new pay to message feature. The first test subjects are the Corporate Facebook team, including CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
You may have visited another one like it, especially if you have been to Riverfront Park in Spokane, but coming soon we will have out very own, unique Carousel in the Tri-Cities. It's been a long process to get the Carousel of Dreams in Kennewick up and running, but with some great support from the community and local businesses, things are really starting to come together.
Today, Eric Van Winkle, one of the Carousel of Dreams board members, posted a picture to Facebook showing off the center pole that will be used begin construction.
