Spokane authorities outlined some of the information they have learned in the investigation into a former Pasco police officer's link to a 1986 murder.

Former Pasco police officer (and detective) Richard Aguirre, 51, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the 1986 strangulation death of a Spokane prostitute, Ruby Doss.

Spokane Police Captain Eric Olsen told the media Wednesday in Spokane five search warrants have been carried out in Aguirre's Pasco home in the last 30 days.  They discovered a significant number of sex act recordings, and are trying to determine if they were consensual, and they've identified a number of what they called potential victims.

The recordings could possibly lead to voyeurism and and sex crime charges against the former Pasco police officer of the year.  DNA evidence taken from Aguirre during the investigation into a November 2014 sexual assault matched that found at the crime scene of Doss' murder in Spokane.

Olsen said currently Aguirre is not linked to other similar strangulation deaths that occurred in Spokane in the later part of the 1980's.  He is being held on $500,000 bond in connection with the Doss murder. Aguirre was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base rom 1984 to 1988 before coming to Pasco and joining the force as a patrolman. He resigned from the force earlier this spring after the sexual assault allegations came to the surface from the November incident.
