Spokane's arena football team has changed their name and logo and are now called the Spokane Empire. For years they have been the Spokane Shock and have been one of the great revelries for our own Tri-Cities Fever. The team held a contest back in early November and chose the name from out of 400 that they received. They wanted to pick something that reflected the history of the area that is known as the "Inland Empire". the logo is an old locomotive that pays tribute to the railroad boom the city experienced in the 1800's and early 1900's. Trains were responsible for a lot of the growth in the area and the economy of the time.
