Early Wednesday morning, Kennewick police were kept busy chasing a car that was later discovered to have been stolen yesterday in Richland.

An officer on patrol noticed this red Hyundai that ran a stop sign as it was turning off north onto west 27th. The car rolled through the sign, and the patrol unit lit him up to pull him over.

However, the male driver sped off. The officer maintained a safe following distance and was preparing to close in when the driver lost control in the Vancouver street roundabout, and plowed the car into the light pole that illuminates the area.

The driver was able to jump out and flee on foot, the officer giving chase. The suspect ran into the residential area nearby, by the time other officers arrived he was gone. He has not yet been located, but the car was reported stolen Tuesday in Richland.
