A new study says Washington state ranks in the bottom ten in most catagories concerning roads,   conditions and efficiency.

The Reason Foundation says Washington state is 42nd. in highway preformance and cost effectiveness  and 47th in rural interstate pavement condition.

According to NW Cable News:

"Reason Foundation's Annual Highway Report is based on spending and performance data submitted by state highway agencies to the federal government.

Among the worst stretches of road according to KING 5 viewers polled, is Interstate 5 through Seattle, State Route 167 at I-405, and State Route 18."

The Washington State Department of Transportation struggles with funding for needed road projects, as the state legislature didn't pass a transportation package.

However,  the packages considered involved hefty gas tax hikes, which were met with considerable resistance by voters, constituents and GOP lawmakers.  They say Gov.  Inslee can find cheaper ways to pay for road work.
