Two Lower Yakima Valley substance abuse counselors have lost their state credentials (fired) for substance abuse.

According to the weekly report from the Department of Health, two providers were stripped of credentials for meth use and diverting controlled substances.

Tammy J. Sexton, who was part of the Yakima County Chemical Dependency program, surrendered her credentials after she admitted using meth. The 53-year-old woman lost her credentials indefinitely.

62-year-old Sheila Ann Tobey, also of Yakima County, surrendered her credentials after she admitted to diverting controlled substances from the facility where she worked. She had agreed to undergo a substance abuse evaluation in 2015.

According to officials, such individuals can potentially regain their licenses and credentials, but must undergo all mandate requirements to earn the rights back.
